FAQs
How long does steel driveway edging last?
Metal driveway edging is exceptionally durable, lasting any amount of time from 40 to 50 years up to over a century, depending on environmental conditions. If you select Corten steel, then its natural rust patina forms a protective layer, making it highly resistant to corrosion and perfect for long-term outdoor use, particularly for heavy-duty steel driveway edging in landscaping.
How does the metal driveway edging stay in place?
Each driveway edging strip has a welded ring and ground spike every 500 mm at the rear. The spike goes into the ground 2/3 the height of the strip. As our metal driveway edging can come in varying heights, the spike sizes will be made to match. For example, if you buy our edging measuring 150 mm, the spikes will be 450 mm with 300 mm going into the ground.
How do I end a straight run of Corten steel driveway edging?
Thanks to our metal and driveway edging having clips that secure the end of a run, you can place the clip over the top of the edge with the spike driven into the ground to secure it.
For ending straight runs that aren’t in multiples of 2.4 metres, either cut the edging to the right length with an angle grinder or create a bend to form a corner and then run it along the wall or fence and secure it with the end spike.
Can I create shapes with metal driveway edging?
Our 6 mm Corten steel driveway edging can be bent and cut into all types of custom shapes, with the ground spikes enabling a stronghold to allow the edging to maintain its shape for years to come. From curves to straight angles, our edging can do it all!
