How do we make your Raised Bed Planter?
We laser cut the steel to ensure our design is precisely and consistently replicated for each item. Once the laser cutting is complete, we use specialist machinery to apply folds to the sheet steel. We complete the fabrication by hand using only the best, qualified fabricators who take immense pride in their work. We fix ribs to the reverse of Modular Planter for structural support and for fixings parts together.
Each Modular Planter component has a double folded return top lip feature. A lot of similar products on the market leave a steel edge, or a single fold. We have opted for a double fold for several reasons:
- It’s a much higher quality, premium finish (It just looks so much better!)
- It gives unbelievable strength and rigidity, and
- It’s safer for hands when planting.
The corners pieces are prefabricated and fully seam welded, we take time and effort to smooth welds which provides amazing corner and edge detail. Once we’re finished you won’t know where the welds are! As they are handmade by our professional fabricators each trough is ever so slightly unique adding to the charm of this product.
How do I install it?
The modular planter solution comes with 3 distinct pieces: 1. A straight piece, 2.an internal corner, and 3. an external corner. Each piece has hidden structural ribs on the reverse to provide strength and bolt holes to use for fixing the components seamlessly together. We recommend that the structure is installed on a flat level ground. Each piece has holes in the base to allow for fixing onto the substrate below.
What is it made of?
Our Rustic Patina Steel Modular Planter kit is made from a Hot Rolled Mild Steel. We make our Rustic Patina Steel Modular Planter from 2mm thick steel as standard. Any custom sizes can be produced in up to 6mm steel depending on the intended use. We also offer this product as a Genuine Certified Cor-Ten Steel Modular Planter. Check out our blog post which compares Mild Steel and Cor-Ten Steel. Don’t just take our word for it check out what one of the UK's largest steel suppliers says about the advantages of Corten Steel and comparison vs. Mild Steel.
How will my order arrive?
We have a trusted network of nationwide pallet and parcel couriers. Larger sized planters or orders with larger quantities will arrive via a pallet courier, and smaller sized orders will arrive via one of our parcel courier partners. All deliveries are fully tracked. See Delivery Policy for more info.
Lead time is currently 3 to 4 week - please enquire if you require a shorter lead time.
How long will it take for the Modular Planter to weather?
Rustic Patina Modular Planter is available in a raw steel finish as standard. The finish will start to develop a beautifully unique orange and brown patina in a matter of weeks and will continue to develop over a period 6 to 12 months. Speed of weathering process depending on factors such as Weather, Climate, and Proximity the coast/ sea spray etc. You can order your planters pre-weathered if you're as impatient as we are!
How do i maintain it?
Unlike wooden or plastic alternatives no maintenance is required at all! All you need to do is install, fill, plant and enjoy!
Other things to note?
Due to the natural weathering process the ’run off’ from rainwater and watering may stain the surface the planter is placed upon. This a higher risk during the 1st 6 months of the weathering process.
We may have started the weathering process for you; planters can be delivered in various stages of the weathering process from new steel to full patina. Our Cor-Ten Steel Modular Planter range develops a patina more quickly than our Rustic Patina Steel.
All straight pieces are either 300mm, 600mm or 1200mm in length, corners are 600mm right angles. A combination of the above should suit most projects. If not, we can make to your specific requirements.
Once production is started; we may not be able to accommodate requests or amends.
