What is it made of?
Our Corten steel cube planter with feet is crafted from 100% genuine, certified Corten steel – also known as weathering steel or COR-TEN steel. The name “COR” refers to its impressive resistance to corrosion, while “TEN” highlights its tensile strength. We use up to 6 mm thick structural-grade steel as the material for our planters.
How long will it take for my cube planter to weather?
The Corten steel planter will start to develop a beautifully unique orange and brown patina in a matter of days and will take up to nine months to develop a full patina. The rate of weathering depends on various factors such as climate, weather and proximity to the coast.
Will the weathering process produce runoff?
In the initial stages of weathering, rain or watering may cause runoff to stain surfaces beneath the planter. If you place the bed on soil this should not be a problem, but if you’re looking to place it on a patio or similar area, we recommend adding a protective layer under the base if necessary.
Does the cube planter come pre-weathered?
We’re able to deliver your Corten steel cube planter either pre-weathered or un-weathered. It’s entirely your choice! If you’d like to watch the planter develop its distinct patina over time, then choose the un-weather option. If you’d like us to deliver your planter already displaying its unique colour, then opt for pre-weathered for a more out-of-the-box feel.
How do I maintain my cube planter?
With Corten steel planters, no maintenance is needed – not even a second thought! Simply fill with soil and plant your favourite foliage for cheerful green decor. Yes – these planters are suitable for any domestic or commercial use. Whether indoors or outdoors, drainage holes come as standard; however, if intended for use indoors, contact our sales team and we’ll ensure a watertight planter is delivered to you.
