The basic structure of a gravel grid utilises a honeycomb design structure, with our range made from eco-friendly recycled plastic. Its modular design means you have free reign on where you would like to install them, making our products extremely versatile.

The interconnected cells act like tiny containers, holding the gravel in place and ensuring it remains compacted and even. The grid structure aids in weight distribution and stability as well as reduces the chances of gravel migration.

Applications

Installation Process

We have a recommended installation process. Note. You will require additional tools and materials for the installation.

Excavate the area where you want to place the gravel. Remove the surface soil as well as any debris, weeds and roots. Level the ground using a rake.
Place the borders down on the area. For this, our Corten Steel Edging is ideal.
Add a 15-cm thick layer of sharp sand for levelling.
Arrange the honeycomb gravel grid on top of this layer, making sure the geotextile layer overlaps and the grids nestle nicely with neighbouring sheets. (The sheets do not have to be pinned or otherwise secured)
Fill with the gravel of your choice. Utilising a rake, tamp and shovel, level the gravel. Avoid compacting the gravel. The gravel should end up 20mm above the top of the gravel grid.
After several weeks, or with rain and usage, this might settle down more. Reapply additional gravel in the places where the settlement is lower. After this, sinking will no longer happen.

Choosing the Right Gravel

While you can use any type of gravel you wish, we do not recommend using a gravel type that is less than 4mm or greater than 20mm for the best result in compaction.
