Helix Moongates for a Public Regeneration Project

Northampton

A Gateway To Elegance

We were asked by a council to design and build four large-scale Corten steel helix moongates, each standing five metres tall, for a public park regeneration project in Northampton. Every piece was carefully fabricated by hand and shaped into the signature helix loop by our experienced team.

What We Did

Concept and design development

We created and presented a series of design ideas, refining these in close collaboration with our customer until we landed on a finished design.

3D CAD design and visualisation

We worked alongside the regeneration scheme’s design team to finalise the scale and sizing of the gates using detailed CAD visuals.

Specialist fabrication techniques

Our team developed and carried out highly custom fabrication methods to craft the helix curves out of flat Corten steel sections.

Delivery and coordination on site

We handled logistics and delivery to ensure smooth installation once the moongates were on location.

Project Details

Much of our work is for private gardens and individual customers, but we love a challenge, so we jumped at the chance to work with North Northampton Council to create four sculptural helix moongates. This was part of a public park upgrade linked to the King’s coronation.

Starting from the council’s brief, we developed multiple concepts and hosted a collaborative design workshop to narrow these down to the final choice. Once agreed, we moved on to CAD modelling, producing a full technical design to match the exact dimensions and placement needed.

All components were laser cut from 3mm Corten steel, then fabricated and formed by hand into the twisted helix structure – a process that required serious precision and expertise to get exactly right across every section. Once complete, we managed transport and on-site coordination to make the installation safe and seamless. The result was four striking, large-scale steel moongates that deliver the dramatic visual impact the council was looking for.
